Police To Investigate Latest Sordell Abuse

Police have confirmed that they have received a complaint regarding the image posted to a Marvin Sordell fan page on Facebook a couple of days following Bolton's loss to Millwall. Said complaint is "due to officially be lodged at a north-west London police station later today."

The image was posted with a caption that simply read "dont f*** with the millwall" and showed a bloodied Sordell (the image was Photoshopped, obviously) and a handgun pointing at the young England and Bolton Wanderers player.

This latest round of abuse comes after Sordell said he and three other Bolton players were racially abused by Millwall fans and fan violence in Serbia. Yesterday, the England U21 team beat Serbia right at the death in order to secure their qualification for the 2013 European Championships. As Connor Wickham scored right before the final whistle, it kicked off at the Serbian stadium with Serbian players engaging the England squad and fans running onto the field as well as throwing objects from the stand.

Marvin Sordell Target Of Abuse Once Again

The England U21s secured their place at the 2013 European Championships. Connor Wickham's goal at the death, however, would not be the story of the match as abuse from all over the stadium would mar the occasion.

Shittu On Racism Claims: Not At Millwall

Following Marvin Sordell's tweets alleging that he, Benik Afobe, Chung-Yong Lee, and Darren Pratley received racist abuse at the hands of Millwall supporters, stand-in captain Danny Shittu says that he did not hear any of the abuse at the Den.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Shittu, a Bolton Wanderers play from 2008-2010 and now in his second stint at Millwall, said:

"I've spoken to the chief executive and I know Millwall is a club that works so hard on fighting these kind of things.

"What people need to understand is that at any club you're going to have different people, different kind of views, people that do silly things.

"But this is my second spell here and I know that this is not a way at Millwall, it's something the club really stands up against.

"It's getting investigated now, and I'm sure if anything does come out they'll deal with it."

Shittu himself said that he has never been on the receiving end of that kind of abuse from Millwall fans, even when he played against the Lions at the Den.

"When I did play against them, anybody will tell you that anybody who comes back to Millwall, it's a hard ground to play at. The fans really do get on your back, but personally I didn't really experience any racism from them.

"It is a hard place to come and play and you do get a lot of abuse, like you do at any club you go to.

"I didn't personally get any racist taunts or anything like that."
