Chelsea was a game with nothing to lose and that's just what Bolton did. Bolton were never going to beat Chelsea and while a draw away at Stamford Bridge certainly would have been nice, we can't be too upset that it didn't happen. Bolton were missing Martin Petrov and Mark Davies, neither of which made the matchday 18. It was Davies who would be sorely missed as Bolton had quite literally nothing going for them in the center of midfield.

The first half was as dull as dull could possibly be. 45 minutes of each time hoofing the ball up field to their respective forwards, a few of which forced Adam Bogdan to make a couple of quality saves. The Bolton defense looked mostly strong in the first half, holding Chelsea to no goals during the break. Even though the blues didn't take their opportunities, Bolton didn't have many at all to speak of. Petr Cech was not called into action once with Bolton's best opportunity coming on the stroke of halftime thanks to a shot at the near post sent just high by Ryo Miyaichi.

The second half wasn't as peachy as Chelsea were desperate to score and score they did. the first goal was a cool strike by David Luiz after some poor defending allowed the ball to bounce right to him after a deflection. He sent his shot to the far post and past Adam Bogdan who could do nothing about it. The second goal was a Didier Drogba header that saw him rise above Fabrice Muamba on one of Chelsea's seemingly infinite amount of corners. The third goal and the final nail in the coffin came by way of Frank Lampard who found himself in an absurd amount of space at the far post to get on the end of a good cross.

All in all, Bolton's defense was once again their undoing. Manchester City next week will be a tough task. Still, keep the faith. Hopefully Mark Davies will be once again fit and Bolton can find the scoring touch. A point would be massive.
