Dougie Freedman's Bolton Wanderers are not yet a complete team. Despite the fact that the summer has been very busy thus far, the Trotters are not finished bringing new talent in. So far, Bolton have signed five players in Marc Tierney, Alex Baptiste, Conor Wilkinson, Hayden White, and Rob Hall but there are still gaps in the squad, namely on the wings and up front.
A new report from the Evening Chronicle, a Newcastle-based newspaper, suggests that Bolton Wanderers are planning a loan move, likely six months, for Sammy Ameobi, with the player apparently high on Dougie Freedman's list of targets.
The left-footed, left-sided player enjoyed some time in the spotlight last season, making a number of appearances for Newcastle across the Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup before being loaned out. Ameobi, the younger brother of Shola Ameobi, spent time at an abject Middlesbrough side in the final two months of the season. The winger was part of a Boro side that nine of its final 13 games, drawing two and winning two. On his Boro debut, Ameobi scored the eventual game-winner against Cardiff, sealing a rare three points for Boro in the second half of the season.
(20 second mark)
In 23 appearances across all competitions, that was Ameobi's only goal last season. He would assist a further four goals.
Bolton Wanderers are currently on a pre-season training camp in Spain with Dougie Freedman putting the team through three-a-day training sessions. According to the Chronicle report, Freedman would hope to bring Ameobi in before the season kicks off next month.
