It was announced this morning that Bolton Wanderers have accepted a bid for academy graduate Josh Vela, believed to be in the region of around £500,000. The club in question, Cardiff City, have also stipulated that they'd like the midfielder in their ranks by the weekend, as-good-as ruling him out of tonight's fixture at Sheffield Wednesday.
Vela has been with Wanderers' since the age of nine and has attracted interest from other big clubs in the past, namely Liverpool, as the Merseyside club saw their £1 million bid rejected for him when he was 17.
Now 22, Vela has played in a number of positions for the Whites; his versatility making him an attractive prospect for any prospective bidders.
The news will be tough to take for Neil Lennon, who is also facing the prospect of prized asset Zach Clough and star midfielder Mark Davies also leaving in this window, although both deals look to have stalled. Clough is reportedly reluctant to make the move down to Bristol City as he's still living at home with his family, and Mark Davies is struggling to agree personal terms at Sheffield Wednesday - the main talking point being his wages.
Will we have any players left, come February? Who knows.
