Bolton were once again impressive away from home for the third time in a row, also scoring four goals away from home three games on the bounce for the first time since lord knows how long (one for the BWFC stat accounts)
Bolton opened the scoring early when Madine’s header from a brilliant Vela cross was well saved by the Oxford ‘keeper but Morais was on hand to roof the goal with his shot. The second came not long afterwards when Le Fondre won a free-kick on the edge of the box - in a challenge that would see him brought off early due to a concussion - Morais’ shot from the free-kick was smartly tipped onto the bar by the Oxford ‘keeper and the rebound was pounced on by Beevers.
Oxford didn’t make things easy however when some poor goalkeeping from Alnwick allowed them to pull one back before half-time, the second half saw the perpetrator for Le Fondre’s injury nod the ball into his own net after coming under pressure from Madine, Oxford managed to pull another one back with a spectacular free-kick from Maguire which left Alnwich with absolutely no chance.
Oxford piled on the pressure in the dying minutes however we managed to put the game to bed when Madine backheeled the ball into Vela’s path and Vela scored a brilliant finish from just outside the box to secure all three points.
We’re in top form at the moment and if we keep this up 2nd is surely a matter of when rather than if.
