Bolton 0-2 Manchester City: Whimper.

This season started so brightly with this Bolton side surprising everyone with beautiful play in the midfield and strikers that could actually score. Not so much anymore with the Wanderers claiming just 6 points of their possible last 18 and recording 4 straight losses. There’s lots to be analyzed about this campaign but that will be left for another day and another series of blog posts. Onto this Bolton - Citeh matchup.

It was in the 43rd minute that Joleon Lescott made the breakthrough with a goal that no one, not even the Star Trek convention professional (get it, it was a Klingon joke) knew about. The ball happened to hit him in the right spot of his head with his back pretty much turned and looped over Jaaskelainen. Nothing he could do about it. 1-0 at the break.

Edin Dzeko doubled that advantage to end the Bolton season in the 62nd minute. His hit from close range just beat Jussi who was diving to stop it at the near post. The season ended with a whimper.

Lots to be discussed about whether this can be a considered a successful season, what the best and worst moments are, and the other highlights of this absolutely crazy year. It’s going to be a long summer of rumours and signings. Bolton end the season at 14th place, the exact same position as last year but going in the opposite direction. Our season ended with Stuart Holden's. Here's to 2012 (if the apocalypse doesn't happen)
