Yes, out of the 30 photos from training in Orlando, I chose this one.
It's no secret that this hasn't been exactly the most exciting summer for the Bolton Wanderers, and any news is at least vaguely interesting. I mean, I read an interview with the kitman earlier today. I know exactly how many ankle socks they brought to America. In light of that, it feels weird that there will actually be games, and soon. Yesterday, Houston Dynamo released the squad to be playing in the Dynamo Charities Cup on July 20th.
Goalkeepers: Adam Bogdan, Jussi Jaaskelainen, Rob Lainton
Defenders: Marcos Alonso, Gary Cahill, Zat Knight, Paul Robinson, Gretar Steinsson, David Wheater
Midfielder: Mark Davies, Ricardo Gardner, Stuart Holden, Chung-Yong Lee, Fabrice Muamba, Martin Petrov, Darren Pratley, Matthew Taylor
Forwards: Robbie Blake, Kevin Davies, Tom Eaves, Ivan Klasnic, Tope Obadeyi
There are some interesting inclusions and exclusions in here, and it does bring up the question whether this is the roster for all the games. There are no surprises with the keepers, as our reserve boy Rob Lainton gets the inclusion after the departure of Ali Al Habsi. In the defenders, it's interesting to note that Mark Connolly is not included, as he informed everyone over Twitter that he made the trip. It is also a little reminder on how sparse our squad is as we only have one right back until Ricketts makes his full return, which will likely be at the end of September. The midfield see Darren Pratley named for the first time since becoming a Wanderer, and also lists Stu Holden even though there's no way he will be playing (don't ask me). I think the forward section is the saddest. The biggest thing to take away from this is that we desperately need signings. That squad is not ready for a Premiership season.
