Tamir Cohen will always have my heart. It is mostly because of this game, and because I'm sentimental, but the fact of the matter is, while he was good in patches, Cohen was never quite good enough. This move obviously is not surprising as we released Tamir at the end of last season, and a move back to Israel seems appropriate for him. The 27 year old midfielder signed a 4 year contract with Maccabi Haifa on Monday. The Greens won the Israeli Premiership last season and are playing for a spot in the Champions League group stage next week.
Of the deal Tamir himself has said
“I’m happy to be joining Haifa, which is a European club in every way possible. I hope to help Haifa in its upcoming missions.”
Hopefully at Haifa Cohen can get the playing time he needs to get back in the national team. We wish him the best of luck.
