SKD Performs Typical SKD Tackle, World Overreacts

Kevin Davies goes in hard. It's a fact of life. We (for the most part) love him. The rest of the Premier League hates going up against him. In fact, in the 2009/2010 season, Davies set a league record for most fouls in a season with 120 fouls committed. He went on to break that record the following season with 121 fouls. Davies gets it as hard as he gives it and he's one of the most fouled players in the league year in and year out. 

In yesterday's match against Manchester United, Kevin Davies did what he does best and went in hard against Tom Cleverley. It wasn't anywhere near the worst challenge in the world, the worst challenge in Kevin Davies' career, or even the worst challenge in the match. Kevin Davies went in from behind and caught Tom Cleverley. When the United youngster got up, he was limping and had to go off for the rest of the game. 

There were initial fears that Cleverley had broken a bone in his foot and would / could / everyone overreacted that Tom would be out for the rest of the season. Sir Alex Ferguson said of the challenge:

He may have a broken foot, it was unfortunate. We expected it, it was a bad tackle.

and then every Manchester United fan ever took to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google+, MySpace, Orkut, and whatever other social network you'd like to name to sling insults at Kevin Davies (who isn't on Twitter, or any social media for that matter, any more) and his wife (who is).

A fake Tom Cleverley Facebook page and a bunch of retweets with no basis later, Emma Davies confirmed that Davo had indeed apologized to Cleverley and that Tom did not have an "official Facebook page."
