It's not often that Bolton Wanderers beat Chelsea to a signing but this might just be our week as Universidad Católica right back Stefano Magnasco is on trial with the Trotters. Magnasco, who turns 19 in just over two weeks, is at home on the right side of defense but can play anywhere on the right. Magnasco made his professional debut for Universidad Católica earlier this year after spending his entire youth career with the Chilean side.
Two things happened before the trial could be agreed to by all parties. First, Chelsea made an offer for him but Bolton countered. Second, Magansco had to sign a professional contract with Universidad Católica so that if he does make a move to the Premier League, the side will receive a transfer fee.
"I have to seize this chance, and if I am not ready they will tell me. It never hurts to take advantage of this situation."
The last time there was so much coverage for a Bolton trialist? Stuart Holden. Let's hope Magnasco turns out to be a gem in order to help the hurting right side.
