Former Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson was sacked on December 30, 2009. For the last 758 days, the thing that has been at the forefront of his mind is Bolton Wanderers fans and how much he hates them. Instead of concentrating on his current club, Sheffield Wednesday, who are in the middle of a promotion battle to the League Championship, good old Meggo had quite a few choice words for just about everyone involved with Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
The Ginger "Mourinho" (even though we all know he's nowhere near fantastic) was interviewed by BBC Radio Manchester and like a teenage girl pining for the boy that dumped her, Megson is claiming that he was the best thing we ever had.
"The supporters at Bolton made it quite clear that they didn't want me in the first place and we drew, I think it was, the first four games."
Well, of course they didn't. This is coming from the man that rejected every invitation from the Bolton Wanderers Supporters Association and got the team off to one of their worst starts in well, ever.
Sure, Megson had his positives. He took Bolton Wanderers far in Europe, including a famous 2-2 draw to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. He was also one of our better scouts. Megson's signings include Fabrice Muamba, Sam Ricketts, Paul Robinson, Chung-Yong Lee, Gary Cahill, and Zat Knight. He also made some purely terrible pickups in Mustapha Riga, Danny Shittu, Ebi Smolarek, and Johan Elmander. This was all well and good because we all hate Gary Megson and know that he hates us. Then Meggo said this bit of rubbish:
"I took Bolton further in Europe than they've ever been, and yet I was told by the chairman to get out of Europe because they don't make any money in it and it was having an impact on the league position and it was absolutely imperative to stay in the Premiership."
Seriously? Well, chairman Phil Gartside was having none of that and quickly rubbished the statements via his Twitter account.
The fact of the matter is that Gary Megson still isn't over us but we're sooooo over him.
