Mick McCarthy Ruled Out Of Bolton Running

New, comment

A shift in direction is on the cards for Bolton Wanderers. The whites are looking to try something new with a manager that knows how to do well on a budget, get the team to the Premier League, and keep them there.

In a move that will likely be divisive with the fans, it seems that Mick McCarthy is not on the final shortlist for the Bolton Wanderers manager position despite being the odds-on betting favorite for some time. Mick has been out of work since February after leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers who were well on their way to relegation at the time. McCarthy had won the Championship on two prior occasions, with Sunderland and Wolves, and has a history of bringing teams to the Premier League but not keeping them there long.

It appears as though chairman Phil Gartside and owner Eddie Davies are big fans of the road that Owen Coyle started Bolton Wanderers down. As a result, the direction that the team wants to move towards by all indications is a younger manager with a fresh way of thinking. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a name still being thrown around and one that seems to be a favorite in the Bolton offices while current Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton is now third-favorite in the odds.
