It was a typical Bolton Wanderers goal that gave the Trotters the lead in their match against Leeds United. Bolton were easily the better side in the first few minutes and created the first real chance of the match after a long range Chris Eagles shot stung the palms of Paddy Kenny and Mark Davies' follow-up attempt was blocked. A few minutes later, Leeds' Rodolph Austin deflected a Bolton ball out for a corner.
Chris Eagles stood at the corner flag and sent a trademark inswinging ball to the penalty area. Who else would be there but Super Kevin Davies? The ball found the head of the Bolton skipper who finished well with a header from six yards out. Bolton went 1-0 up on 15 minutes.
Chris Eagles was at it again just a few minutes later with another long-range effort, this time 25 yards out. His bullet of a shot smacked off of Paddy Kenny's post and Leeds caught a lucky break.
