We've had our eye on Tom Eaves for a while. The big striker has been promising, but never quite established enough, so we were excited to see what he could do when sent on loan to League Two side, Bristol Rovers. Today he showed just what he is capable of, scoring the first and last goals for the Pirates, giving them a 3-2 win over Torquay.
This was a big win for the Rovers, who are currently floundering in 20th. Eaves took the lead early, shooting into the lower right hand corner of the goal from the edge of the penalty box in the 15th minute. Matthew Lund, also at Bristol City on loan, doubled the lead just two minutes later, and the Pirates went into halftime 2-0 up. However, Torquay scored 2 goals in 6 minutes shortly after the halftime break, in what must've seemed a promising come back. Eaves put the match to bed in the 76th minute with another low shot that went home.
This brings Eaves' goal tally to 3 in his three weeks at Memorial Stadium. His current deal will keep him there for another 2 months. It will be exciting to see what he can do in that time.
