Chris Eagles, otherwise known as EGOALS, Chreagles, and Our Saviour, has been awarded the 188BET Player of the Month award for October, his third time in a row after also winning the award for his September and August. Eagles leads the club's top scorers list with 6 goals this season, 2 more than Kevin Davies who is next in line. But more importantly than the goals he has scored, many of which were vital, he also has proven to be the club's only reliable creative outlet, something surprising in a team that has both Chung-Yong Lee and Martin Petrov.
Out of the club's 19 goals scored this season, Eagles has scored 6 of them and directly assisted 5 of them, in all likelihood was involved in the build up play of more, all of this coming in 14 appearances. This is compared to last season's totals of 6 goals and 6 assists in 41 appearances.
New manager Dougie Freedman is not blind, and has big plans for the 26 year old. The thought of a new manager, a new style of play, and the imminent return of Stuart Holden, practically has me salivating over Chreagle's future (ok, perhaps I literally dribbled a little bit). I don't want to jinx it, but Eagles has had a stunning season, and if the current state of things is anything to go by, it's only up from here.
