Tom Eaves has made three appearances for his current side, Bristol Rovers, and has now scored his first goal for the Pirates. Rovers have played ten matches thus far this season, six of which were at home, and finally got their first win at the Memorial Stadium this weekend. Tom Eaves broke the deadlock against midtable rivals Northampton Town and led Bristol to the win.
The match was scoreless in the first half with Northampton Town down to ten men on 25 minutes after the Cobblers' Anthony Charles held a Bristol man back on the edge of the box. Eaves made the breakthrough seven minutes after the break after he got on the end of a cross from Eliot Richards and finished well from close range. Rovers doubled their lead less than five minutes later before Northampton pulled one back.
Eaves had a chance to notch the third goal for the Gas shortly after that, having beat the keeper. In a one-on-one situation, Eaves did well to keep his composure and lobbed the goalkeeper. His shot had good height and pace but it finished just wide of the post. Eaves had one more chance before Rovers finally made it three after his shot ran across the face of goal and came to nothing.
