The baby Whites fell to fellow high-flyers Reading, who knocked the home side off the top of the league with a 2-0 win. The two sides now sit level on points, but the Royals have a high goal different by two. Bolton Wanderers Under 18s are above the third place club, Everton, by an impressive eleven points. Bolton conceded a goal either half to give Reading the leg up the table they needed.
While this certainly is a bit disappointing, really no one can fault the Wanderers. Scholars manager David Lee said this after the match,
We were beaten by the better team on the day and although we did play well, it was just one of those days. I can't ask any more of the players as this was our first defeat of the season and it took two good goals from our opponents for them to seal the win.
We were 1-0 down at half-time, but started the second half really well and had put a lot of pressure on Reading for 25 minutes. Then we got caught with a stunning goal against us.
Overall we are confident we will bounce back next week against Blackburn after we've had a good week of training.
Onward and upward, and best of luck to the Bolton U18s as they face Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
