Officially Official: Bolton Wanderers sign Jacob Butterfield on loan from Norwich City

Jamie McDonald

Dougie Freedman has already decided where he needs to strengthen his Bolton Wanderers squad by officially making his first signing as manager of Bolton Wanderers. The club have officially signed midfielder Jacob Butterfield on loan from Norwich City for just one month. It seems that Dougie is looking to give Mark Davies & Darren Pratley a little bit of competition in the central midfield role in hopes of getting some fluidity in the center of the park. Butterfield can also drop into the defense.

Butterfield, only 22, signed for Norwich City in the summer after spending the whole of his career before that with Barnsley. At the beginning of last season, he captained the Tykes in a home match against Watford at just the age of 21. Since 2007, he had made 89 appearances for Barnsley, scoring 8 goals in that stretch. He suffered a knee injury on New Years Eve last season, tearing ligaments, and missing the rest of the campaign

He has not made a league appearance for Norwich City but has one cap for the England U-21s. He is eligible for Bolton's weekend trip to Blackpool
