Kevin Davies is set to make his 600th career league appearance

The word "legend" is banded around quite loosely in football. People are often way too quick to throw the moniker at players who have had a good season or two in their clubs shirt. Kevin Davies is a Bolton Wanderers legend and there's no question about that.

Super Kevin Davies, as he's become affectionately known to Bolton Wanderers fans, is set to reach a career milestone when he makes his next appearance for the club. It's hard to see him not appearing in this weekend's match at Blackpool but stranger things have happened. Davies is currently sitting on 599 career league appearances and will make good on number 600 the next time he steps on the field.

Kevin Davies started his career with Chesterfield before two stints at Southampton, a short stay at Blackburn Rovers, and an even shorter loan at Millwall. In the summer following the 2002/2003 season, he was released by the Saints and joined Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer. He's been with the Trotters since and has made 375 appearances, the vast majority from a starting role, in a Bolton Wanderers shirt.

At 35 years old, it's not a secret that SKD is no spring chicken but he still continues to do his job week in and week out. Kevin was never an out-and-out striker and his goal ratio would certainly never match up with the likes of Nat Lofthouse but when talking about Bolton Wanderers legends, the two should always be in the same conversation. He's not in the top ten list of most Bolton Wanderers appearances, or even top 20, but he should get pretty close by season's end.

Loyal players in football have become a dying breed. Players that have been with one club for even half of how long Davies has been with Bolton are few and far between.

We should be applauding our Captain, Leader, Legend.
