Bolton Wanderers face fresh injuries ahead of Birmingham City

Tom Shaw

Speaking in his pre-match press conference a little bit earlier in the day, Dougie Freedman revealed that Bolton Wanderers do have a few new injury worries before Saturday's nPower Championship match against Birmingham City at the Reebok Stadium.

The normally injured group of Mark Davies, Matt Mills, Stu Holden, David Wheater, and Josh Vela are all still definitely out. This time, however, they will all likely be joined by Keith Andrews, David Ngog, and Benik Afobe, who are listed as "doubtful" on the team sheet.

The trio had picked up knocks in the match against Sheffield Wednesday. All three of those players completed the full 90 minutes which suggests that either injuries were (a) minor at the time, (b) they happened after Dougie Freedman had used his final substitutions in the 73rd minute, or (c) they didn't say anything.

Should Dougie choose to go with one forward tomorrow, it will most likely be Kevin Davies getting the nod. However, with two up front, Marvin Sordell would figure into the action. That said, the smart money is on a 4-5-1 with Sordell on the bench as attacking cover.
