Out with the old; in with the new. One of the biggest criticisms under Owen Coyle was the lack of quality in the backroom staff, one of the most controversial characters being Phil Hughes. We reported earlier this week that this move was in the works, and today it was confirmed by the club's official Twitter. Lee Turner has followed Dougie Freedman from Crystal Palace, and will now take up the charge of goalkeeping coach for the Wanderers.

Dougie Freedman first worked with Lee Turner at Southend United, where Freedman ended his playing career. Turner was coaching there, and clearly impressed Dougie somehow, as he was asked to join his fellow Scotsman at Crystal Palace just a year after they parted ways at Southend. Given Dougie's strict system and comprehensive view of the game, it's good that he's continuing to bring in staff who have experience with him and know how he works. While it's difficult to enter a role previously occupied by a great like Fred Barber, I am looking forward to seeing what Turner can do with Adam Bogdan.

Welcome to the Reebok!
