We were informed earlier that Ricardo Gardner did not make Bolton Wanderers' 25-man squad for the remainder of this season. This means that he will not be allowed to compete in Premier League matches but should Bolton remain in the FA Cup when he comes back from his current injury, he can play in the competition. Given Bibi's current age and expected playing time, we don't really see Owen Coyle handing him a contract extension.
After we posted the article, a thought came up. What if Bolton isn't letting Bibi go, what if his injury is worse than first thought and everyone forgot to mention it?
Gardner's last involvement for Bolton was in a 3-1 loss to Swansea City where his two yellow cards saw him getting sent off shortly after the half. He picked up an injury right after that and has been sidelined ever since. The problem is that no one from Bolton Wanderers ever clearly stated what Ricardo's situation was so to the fans, he's been in limbo.
We asked on Twitter if anyone had any insights and the response below appears to confirm our suspicions.
After all, why is Robbie Blake still named in the squad? Surely he's a lot more useless than Ricardo Gardner.
