Tope Obadeyi Signs for Rio Ave

Thank you Tope
Thank you Tope

It's a transition summer, some changes will hit Bolton harder than others. This is not one of those. Tope Obadeyi, one of the 11 players released by the club after going out of contract this summer, has signed for Portuguese club Rio Ave, which sounds rather like an unsuccessful pop-rock band of the early 2000s. Rio Ave finished 14th in the Primeira Liga, Portugal's top division, which is just one place above relegation.

Obadeyi only made 3 senior appearances in his 4 years since graduating from the Bolton youth system, and spent much of that time on loan to various clubs, including Shrewsbury Town, Chesterfield, and Rochdale on two separate occasions. His debut for the Trotters came in December 2008, in a 1-0 loss at the Reebok to Wigan. The forward has scored a total of 4 goals in his 46 senior appearances across five clubs, none of those being for Bolton. Best of luck in Portugal to Obadeyi!
