Kalifa Cisse On Trial With Bolton Wanderers

In the quest to bolster Bolton Wanderers' squad numbers, Bolton are looking at Bristol City. Specifically at defensive midfielder & center back Kalifa Cisse. The 6'2 defender will join Bolton on their preseason tour of Scotland for next week. Speaking of the situation, Bristol City manager Derek McInnes said:

"I had a call from Owen [Coyle] at the weekend to say they'd be taking a look at him, and that was backed up by communication from his agent.

"The door isn't closed to him here at Bristol City but it's looking increasingly likely we won't be working with him next season."

Cisse, a Malian international (with only 1 cap to his name, coming in 2008), started his youth career with french club Toulouse (who gave us Johan Elmander). He plied his trade in Portugal from 2004-2007 with sides GD Estoril and Boavista before moving to Reading for a fee of just under €1 million. Cisse made 75 appearances for Reading in 3 seasons, scoring seven times. He moved to Bristol City in 2010 on a two year deal and made 61 appearances in that span. Cisse, now 28, looks unlikely to sign a new deal with Bristol, and would be a free signing for Bolton.
