Former Bolton Loanee Ryo Miyaichi Makes Wigan Switch

Before coming to Bolton Wanderers in January, Ryo Miyaichi was touted as the next big thing with some going as far as calling him the "Japanese Messi." Bolton fans were understandably excited for him with the anticipation only growing after he scored his first (and only) goal in his second run out with the squad against Millwall in the FA Cup. After that game, just about every Premier League fullback figured out his one and only maneuver and Ryo was essentially snuffed out.

Now, with Arsenal knowing that he's nowhere near getting any time with the first team, the Gunners have decided to once again loan Miyaichi out. This time, he's on the way to Wigan where he'll have plenty of opportunities to hoof and run up the wing against Premier League competition. It really is a shame that Miyaichi was not the prospect that he was so highly regarded as. His "blistering" speed left a lot to be desired and his skill vocabulary amounted to one trick that beat just about no one as the season went on. Ryo tired out quickly in games and this eventually lead to Chris Eagles becoming the first choice on the right.

All that said, we do wish Ryo luck at Wigan. He seemed an excellent youngster and the potential for him to grow is surely there.
