Bolton Send Michael O'Halloran On Loan To Carlisle United

At 21 years old, Michael O'Halloran has still not made a single competitive appearance for Bolton Wanderers. The young forward did earn some minutes in Bolton's preseason (like he did last year) but doesn't look really anywhere near breaking into the first team anytime soon. As a result, and in order to keep him fresh (for what, we don't know), the Trotters have loaned O'Halloran to League One's Carlisle United for one month.

The Scotland U-21 forward spent a quarter of last season on loan to another League One side, Sheffield United. He made seven appearances for the Blades but failed to score a goal for them as they finished third in the league but failed to gain promotion through the playoffs.

Carlisle have completed three games in their season so far and sit on four points in the league. They are coming off a 4-2 win at home against Portsmouth in the league and a 2-1 win against Ipswich in the League cup.

O'Halloran inked a contract extension last February, signing at the same time as Joe Riley. Both of those players will be on Bolton's books for a further three-and-a-half years
