Fabrice Muamba is currently in Belgium as he has met with cardiologist Pedro Brugada to determine whether or not he will be able to play football again in the future. Brugada had operated on Fabrice in the past when he had a small defibrillator installed in his body. Fabrice reportedly was not given a straight answer about whether or not he would in fact take to the field again but was told that he would need to have more surgery on his heart.

The cardiologist has told Muamba that his condition will require a "minor but necessary procedure" that he is expected to go through with today. In heart surgery, nothing is "minor" so we'll be hoping for the best possible news.

Fabrice's fiance, Shauna, took to Twitter yesterday to provide an update on the situation:

Still in Belgium loving the waffles missing my Joshie. Tho thankful to have so many moments with @fmuamba praying for the best. #grateful

Fabrice is understandably determined to get back on the pitch as he told Piers Morgan in an interview last week.

In May he spent some time in Dubai, continuing his recovery, and took part in a match (however medically unwise?) between hotel staff and other guests. He played about 30 minutes and said "it was great".
