Super Kevin Davies Says The Team Have Been Working On "Tightening Things Up Defensively"

We've bemoaned the Bolton Wanderers defense (or lack thereof) time and time again. Far too often, key personnel go missing, ball watch, or simply make dumb decisions. It seems that now, the Bolton boys have gathered up some match video, popped some popcorn, and sat down in front of the television to figure out just what went wrong. The Trotters return to action on Saturday against Watford and will have three games in the next seven days.

Speaking to the Bolton News, captain Kevin Davies discussed what the team have been up to during the international break:

"We acknowledge that it has not been the best of starts to the season, but there is no doom and gloom around.

"We have identified the areas we need to improve and are looking forward to working hard to put that right with the games coming up. Although a lot of the lads have been away on international duty it hasn't prevented us from doing a good, hard two weeks' training. We have spent the hours on the pitches and looked back over the videos.

"As a unit we have to become more solid. Without the ball, we have been concentrating on defending as a team and making things harder for our opponents."

"We have a big week ahead of us and there is the opportunity to collect up to nine points. The aim is simple - to get back to winning ways as soon as we can and to start climbing the league table.

"As for Watford, like any other club in this league, they will provide difficult opposition. They had a bad result last time out, losing 5-1 at Derby, so I'm sure they will have been working on their defence too. But this is definitely a game we believe we can win."
