Number 17, goal machine, Bolton Wanderers' former Fox in the Box, Ivan Klasnic, has finally found a new club. Bolton's leading scorer last season (which didn't take that much work) has been out of work since the beginning of summer when the club did not extend his contract. Klasnic originally got his start in Germany, spending a total of 11 years between St. Pauli and Werder Bremen before moving on to France.
In three seasons, Ivan Klasnic made 77 appearances for Bolton Wanderers, scoring a total of 20 goal. Klasnic was often bemoaned for his apparent lack of work ethic which led to a lot of those appearances coming from the bench. That said, no one can argue just how clinical his finishing was. Despite the fact that Ivan Klasnic would not chase the ball, all he really needed was an incisive pass into the box to make good on the chance.
He has now signed for 1. FSV Mainz 05 on a one year deal following free agency. Mainz finished in lower mid table last season, ending in 13th place. In two matches this season thus far, Mainz have scored only one goal. We wish Klasnic all of the best!
