Troubles at the back and a distinct lack of goals at the front. If you ask me, it sounds like 2011 all over again. The loan transfer window opens tomorrow for clubs below the Premier League level and Bolton have four potential spots to fill. Bolton Wanderers arguably have the talent to do well, meaning that the issues are tactical and mental as opposed to ones with personnel. This, of course, begs the question: will the Trotters pick anyone up?
With two (or more) players for every position, Bolton have a pretty full squad on their books. There are 34 players registered in the senior squad with senior numbers on the back of their shirts.
Bolton picked up Benik Afobe and Jay Spearing over the summer transfer window, plugging two large holes in the center of midfield and up front for the time being. Where most fans want to see Bolton get help is at the back, though. Owen Coyle may be reluctant to add though as there are a couple of untested options waiting in the wings in Joe Riley, Marcos Alonso, and a number of youngsters that include the likes of the highly touted Andy Kellett.
There are rumors abound of Bolton being owed a loan from Chelsea or whether the club should look at the likes of Jermaine Jenas. The loan window runs until the 25th of November, though, leaving the team with a month and a half to assess their options. Owen Coyle and the team believe that a win is all they need to change their luck. Chris Eagles spoke to the Bolton News, saying:
"It's been difficult for the fans because they have been frustrated with the start that we have made. But in this league, one win can change things and that can soon roll into two or three good results. Before you know it, you move straight up the league.
"We know we have to win matches and although some of the lads have been away on international duty, we have been in training this week working hard.
"I'm confident that we can come out after the international break, get a good result against Watford and move forward."
What do you think, is there anyone that you think Bolton should take a look at?
