We all dream of a team of Nicky Hunts... well, we did. The former Bolton Wanderers defender has just signed for Accrington Stanley on a month-long loan as they look to improve on a woeful defensive record. Stanley are currently 17th in the League Two table, having conceded the fourth-most goals in the division at 41.
Stanley are currently managed by Leam Richardson, another former Bolton Wanderers right back. In fact, Richardson and Nicky Hunt were in a number of the same Bolton sides from 2000-2003.
The right back was handed his debut immediately after signing, going the full 90 minutes as Accrington Stanley beat visiting Chesterfield 1-0 at home.
Nicky Hunt spent ten years at the Reebok Stadium, amassing 128 appearances for the Wanderers after coming up through Bolton's youth system. In the latter stages of his Bolton career, Hunt was sent on loan to Birmingham City and Derby County before ultimately being let go by the whites. He then spent time at Bristol City and Preston North End, before ending up at Rotherham United, his current parent club.
Speaking about his new signing, manager Leam Richardson said:
"Nicky's got vast experience and he's played at every level in the Football League. It's been a position that we've been crying out for all year though people have been in there and done a good job but right back is a position I'd identified that we needed to fill.
"He's a player I targeted quite early on and he was really eager to come and play for Accrington Stanley."
Hunt joins another former Bolton player at Stanley in young defender Tom Eckersley. The 21-year-old has only made one appearance for Stanley after being let go by Bolton in the summer.
