David Wheater was all set to make a reserve return last week with the U21s ready to take on Newcastle United but his comeback was delayed due to weather. The big central defender was about to be handed the call again today but weather has put a wrench in the gears once more and the match is called off. Bolton's U21s were all set to take on Stoke City but nope, not anymore.
The day of his return has been a long time coming after injuring his knee last may but will be pushed back a little longer. The U21s were set to travel to Nantwich Town's Weaver Stadium, where Stoke's reserve squad play, but the match will not be played due to a waterlogged pitch.
Luckily for Wheater and Bolton Wanderers, the match will not have to be pushed back too far as the team is scheduled to play Manchester City's reserves at Hyde's Ewen Fields on Friday.
