Serbian reports say Bolton are set to land FK Partizan & Sierra Leone midfield enforcer

After Jay Spearing's loan stint at Bolton Wanderers comes to an end, the Trotters will have no real defensive midfielder on the books to help the back line out. Sure, Keith Andrews can play there but that's not his natural position with him being a more dead-center kind of player. As a result, it isn't surprising that Dougie Freedman and the club are looking for someone to take those reins for the men in white.

The player in question is Mohamed Kamara, better known simply as Medo, and he is a 25-year-old defensive midfielder currently (or, according to the reports, formerly) at FK Partizan, a Serbian SuperLiga club from Belgrade. If this sounds a little bit familiar, Bolton Wanderers played Partizan's greatest rivals, Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) in the famous UEFA Cup during the 2007/2008 season. Kamara has been with them since 2010 and has made 52 appearances for the Black and Whites.

According to numerous reports out of Serbia in outlets including, but not limited to RTS, Sportske, and Novosti, Medo to Bolton is pretty much a done deal. According to said reports, Kamara has already said goodbye to his teammates and is flying to Bolton on a jet plane to finalize negotiations and have a medical later today.

The RTS report states that Vladimir Vemezovic has "questioned" Medo's "commitment" to the club. From what we can gather, that isn't a question of work rate or anything of that sort, more that he won't sign a new deal when his current contract expires at the end of this season. As a result, Bolton will likely pay a nominal fee for Medo should the deal go through.

Prior to that, he made his in the Finnish Veikkausliiga (top flight of Finnish football) with Helsinki-based club Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi (or simply HJK). Medo played for HJK from 2007 to 2010 where he made 91 appearances and scored 13 goals. He was also an integral part of the side that won the Finnish championship in back-to-back in 2009 and 2010. Medo also holds a Finnish citizenship.

He had previously tried to play for the Finnish national team (which would have seen him play with Jussi Jaaskelainen) but FIFA denied his eligibility claim. Because of that, Medo elected to play for Sierra Leone, the nation of his birth. He made his international debut in March 2011, going the full 90 minutes in an African Cup of Nations qualification match against Niger.

One more note: every one of the reports refers to Medo as "Teddy Bear." We're not sure if that's his actual nickname or the way that "Medo" translates from Serbian to English.
