Dougie Freedman updates Marcos Alonso situation

Michael Regan

Marcos Alonso is still a member of Bolton Wanderers Football Club... for the time being. According to manager Dougie Freedman at his pre-Watford press conference, there has been continued interest in the left back from a few parties (namely Fiorentina and Stoke City) but no one has met Bolton's valuation of the player.

However, Dougie did not deny that Marcos Alonso could be gone before everything is said and done today. Should Alonso be sold to one of the interested parties, it would force Bolton Wanderers into a late search for a replacement. The only other player on the books that has played the position for Bolton before is Sam Ricketts. That would, of course, leave the Trotters with absolutely no wide cover in defense.

A number of Bolton fans have asked about the possibility of re-signing Stephen Warnock again but that does not appear to be a viable option for the Trotters.

Dougie may have to pull a (preferably natural left back) rabbit out of his hat.
