Bolton sign Southampton winger on loan

Ian Walton

Bolton Wanderers are adding options out wide. With only Gregg Wylde, Chris Eagles, and Chung-Yong Lee as wingers on the books, the Trotters need depth. According to Marc Iles of the Bolton News, the Trotters have brought in a 25-year-old Belgian winger on loan. The player in question is Steven de Ridder of Southampton.

Steve de Ridder has been with Southampton since 2011, after joining from Dutch side de Graafschap. He featured for them heavily in last season's promotion campaign to the Premier League but has not made much of a dent for the Saints this season. In total, de Ridder has made 36 appearances for Southampton with three goals to his name. He also has made appearances for Belgium at the U18, U19, and U20 levels. He has been described as very pacy but not the smartest player on the pitch. We'll see what comes of it.

Bolton have signed the winger on loan for just two months but it will give Dougie Freedman and the Trotters time to sort their depth issues out with a Football League loan window fast approaching.
