Bolton Wanderers wrap up ridiculously active transfer deadline day

Michael Steele

Can anyone remember the last time Bolton Wanderers were anywhere near this busy on a transfer deadline day? Sure, there have been the occasional one or two signings, but not this year, no. On top of the signings earlier in the window, Bolton Wanderers added three players while sending two away. Here's what you missed:

In

Cian Bolger

The 20-year-old central defender signed permanently from Leicester City. He will move into Bolton's reserve system but Dougie Freedman said that he believes Bolger can make an impact on the first time in 18 months or so.

Steve De Ridder

The 25-year-old winger has signed on a month-long loan from Southampton. He is a versatile option, able to play on either flank.

Medo Kamara

The 25-year-old defensive midfielder was the big story of the day. He fills a vital role for Bolton, comes at an affordable price, and has Champions League experience. Dougie Freedman said he has "the heart of a lion" and we're waiting for him to roar.

Out

Benik Afobe

The Arsenal forward failed to make an impact at Bolton Wanderers over the last six months and has gone back to his parent club. If you ask most Bolton fans, they'll tell you that this was the best piece of business the Trotters did.

Michael O'Halloran

The Scotland U21 forward has extended his loan at Tranmere Rovers until the end of the season. Hopefully he can step up his development there and add more goals to his tally.
