The 3rd round match between Everton and Cheltenham Town will take place on Monday to decide who will play the victors of the replay between Sunderland and Bolton Wanderers. Cheltenham are currently fourth in League Two, after losing the playoff final for promotion last season. Everton on the other hand are 6th in the Premiership, having had one of their best seasons of recent times. In spite of the much-touted Magic of the Cup, I believe it is pretty safe to say that whoever wins the replay of out match will be facing Everton.
The match between Sunderland and Bolton of course has already been played, resulting in a 2-2 draw. The victor of the replay is anyone's guess, as both teams went through spells of dominance over the 90 minutes, and overall being quite evenly matched.
The fourth round ties will be played over the weekend of January the 26th. For a full list, head on over to the FA website. To find out more about our possible opposition, visit the SBN Everton blog, Royal Blue Mersey, especially their excellent Q&A with a Cheltenham fan.
