Saturday's match against Yeovil Town saw some interesting lineup changes for Bolton Wanderers that included two of three new signings making the bench. Neil Danns and Liam Feeney were named but Kevin McNaughton was held out. Many had figured that the Cardiff City man would be the most likely to play but it was not to be with the defender having not received international clearance in time to play.
The same questions popped up again ahead of Tuesday's tie with Blackpool at Bloomfield Road, especially in the wake of Marc Tierney's injury that will leave the defender out for months with a fractured foot. The injury leaves Bolton short of natural options but the Trotters would be a bit more confident with the experience McNaughton filling in.
That international clearance has now come and Kevin McNaughton has been given the go-ahead to feature for Bolton Wanderers against Blackpool. The delay has eaten into the defender's already short loan, which is set to only last 28 days as is. Following the Blackpool match, McNaughton has the ability to feature in the matches at Birmingham and against Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town at home before returning to his parent club.
