News has just broken that Wanderers have indeed signed Joe Mason on loan until 5th January.

Welcome to Bolton Wanderers, Joe - the greatest club in the world.

Reports have emerged this morning from the BEN and from South Wales that Bolton Wanderers are on the brink of signing Cardiff City striker Joe Mason on loan until the New Year.

Having already borrowed Kevin McNaughton, it appears that Dougie Freedman's links to fellow Scot Malky Mackay run deep as we fight against a reported ten other sides to land the striker.

Mason began his career at Plymouth Argyle, where he scored ten goals in just over fifty appearances. He moved to Cardiff City in July 2011 for a reported £250,000, scoring twelve goals in 46 appearances in his first season in Wales. He was less successful last season as the Bluebirds won the Championship, scoring six times in 29 games.

He has made just two appearances this season, both in the League Cup.

It is not known whether he will join the Whites until the end of the season, or on a shorter-term loan, but that we are looking to strengthen a troublesome position is surely a positive move by Bolton Wanderers and Dougie Freedman.
