He's gone, folks. After we brought the news that Benik Afobe's loan had come to a close, the club have confirmed his departure. Benik Afobe has left the building and it's probably safe to say that you will not find too many Bolton fans upset by the news. After 23 appearances for the Trotters in all competitions, the number 17 shirt is free again.
Afobe scored three goals for Bolton in competitive play across the league, FA Cup, and Capital One Cup but did little else in his other appearances. He registered no assists and went a number of games without even registering a shot in the general direction of goal, never mind on target.
He joins Ryo Miyaichi in the ranks of Arsenal loanees that have been spectacular failures at Bolton Wanderers. Jack Wilshere, who was 18 when he was at Bolton, remains in the high echelons of successful loanees though.
All we can really say is good luck, Benik.
Benik Afobe has returned to Arsenal following a loan spell with Wanderers. He made 23 apps for Bolton in all comps, scoring three goals.
