Richard Heathcote

David Lee and Tony Zico Kelly's Bolton Wanderers U18s made their way down south to take on Tottenham Hotspur in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup. The Baby Whites had a chance to to reach the competition's quarter finals if they could make their way past Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Bolton Wanderers found themselves down a goal after just five minutes thanks to Kenneth McEvoy's assist on Shaquile Coulthirst's opener. The Trotters drew level 18 minutes later with Tom Walker scoring his first of the evening following Chris Lester's curling effort was only half cleared. Bolton pulled ahead a minute after that thanks to Tom Youngs, who per Tottenham's Twitter account, rode "past a couple challenges before slotting past McGee." It took only another five minutes for the Trotters to create a bit of breathing room in the first half, this time it was Walker on target for his brace. Tottenham would pull one back right on the stroke of halftime thanks to McEvoy's effort at the near post from a corner.

If you thought that the halftime break would calm the kids down, you would be dead wrong. Bolton would start the scoring off again almost immediately, this time thanks to a goal from Chris Lester, finishing from an acute angle on 51 minutes. At this point, Bolton would manage to pull away a bit. point, Bolton had managed to pull away a bit. On the hour mark, Bolton scored once more, with Tom Youngs' deflected effort (his second on the night) fooling the Tottenham goalkeeper, McGee. If you've lost count, that's 5-2 on the scoresheet.

In the 64th minute, Bolton would add a 6th goal thanks to Tom Walker scoring directly from a free kick for his hat trick. Three minutes later, Spurs would start their mini comeback. After Tottenham were awarded a penalty in Bolton's box with Roman Michael-Percil getting fouled, Ruben Leimeras dispatched the shot from the spot into the bottom corner. Five minutes after that, McEvoy would score his second from close range to make it 6-4 to Bolton.

That was all for Tottenham though as on 76 minutes, Bolton Wanderers scored for a seventh time with Tom Youngs breaking down the left wing before cutting inside and finishing with aplomb. That goal was Youngs' third on the day and Bolton's second hat trick in the match. Finally, on 90 minutes, Zach Clough scored Bolton's eighth and final goal after finishing from Elliott Newby's blocked effort.

The Baby Whites would take the match 8-4 at White Hart Lane and will move onto the Quarter Finals of the FA Youth Cup.
