Official: Stu Holden named in Bolton team vs. Derby County

Michael Steele

Stu Holden's long bid for full fitness is finally reaching its conclusion. The American midfielder has been included in the Bolton Wanderers squad after a number of hints were dropped over the course of the last week. The inclusion marks Holden's return to league action for the first time in nearly two years. Since picking up a knee injury from a Jonny Evans tackle in March 2011 and subsequent complications from that affliction, Stu has not had the chance to play in a single Premier League or Championship match.

Despite a pair of FA Cup appearances and a number of reserve outings, both in public and behind closed doors, Stu has not been included in any of the first team's matchday squads. That streak is now over though as Dougie Freedman has named Stu in the squad for Bolton's visit to Pride Park to take on Derby County.

Bolton will start with a central midfield pair of Jay Spearing and Darren Pratley. Stu Holden and Mark Davies are available for Bolton from the bench.
