Last week, Bolton Wanderers' development squad took on their Manchester City counterparts in a U21 Premier League clash at Hyde FC's Ewan Fields. The match provided a number of milestones for Bolton Wanderers including the reserve return of David Wheater, Stu Holden getting more playing time, and the debuts of Jan Gregus of Cian Bolger.
The main talking point of the match was Stuart Holden's injury scare but there were quality finishes from both sides including Jack Sampson's low, slotted effort to open the scoring. Manchester City were very close to winning the match but it was Jan Gregus's absolutely ridiculous finish that saved a point for the Trotters. Gregus collected the ball in space, took a couple of touches into the center of the park, and full-on blasted it from 30 yards out. The ball hit the underside of the crossbar and went into the back of the net in what can only be described as a brilliant goal. Watch the highlights here:
