You can almost breathe a sigh of relief that Dougie Freedman wasn't awarded the npower Championship's Manager of the Month for February. You know, what with the curse and all that. The Bolton Wanderers manager was nominated for the award alongside Barnsley's David Flitcroft and Watford boss Gianfranco Zola. It was the Hornets man that took the award.
There were cries on Twitter of injustice and anti-Bolton bias from the powers handing out the aforementioned award but the trophy was given to the correct man. Keep in mind that despite the fact Bolton Wanderers are on an eight game unbeaten run, having won six in that stretch and five in a row, that this award is for the month of February. In that month, Bolton Wanderers had six games, winning two, drawing three, and losing one (to Watford). Watford had five games during the month and won four of them while drawing the other one (2-2 at home to Crystal Palace. Barnsley won three of four during the month, losing the remaining game to Bristol City.
Congrats to Gianfranco Zola and to Cardiff City's Frazier Campbell for being named player of the month.
