Earlier, news broke that former Bolton Wanderer (and veritable club legend after his lengthy service) Ricardo Gardner was on trial with Barnsley FC. Following an extended look by West Ham and a training stint at their ground, Bibi has moved onto the Tykes in hopes of a permanent deal that would thrust him back into action.
Barnsley manager David Flitcroft opened up about the situation to the Barnsley Chronicle, saying that a decision was coming next week.
"We're looking at Ricardo but more importantly he's looking at us. He was in my office after the game on Tuesday and he likes the atmosphere of the place. He was with the lads in the dressing room and he could be a good
option for us."He's played for West Ham in two under 21 games and is fit and ready. We got a tip off from Sam Allardyce and Neil McDonald at West Ham that we might be able to have a look and I'll decide on Friday.
"His experience and know-how could be vital in this challenge.
"Age isn't on Ricardo's side so he won't be an ideal replacement for Scott Golbourne (Barnsley's first choice left-back who is injured for the rest of the season) but he could give us something different."
Barnsley are knee-deep in a relegation battle (just one spot and two points clear) and are desperate to avoid the drop to League One. They were on a good run of form of late before losing consecutive matches to Bristol City and Bolton Wanderers.
Best of luck, Bibi!
