Stu Holden recalled as Sheffield Wednesday elect not to risk him

Michael Steele

Sheffield Wednesday played out a 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town this weekend as they looked to ensure safety having come up from League One last season. The Owls are now four points and four places clear of the drop zone and while not mathematically secure yet, the fans are breathing easy. Wednesday's team sheet for the Ipswich Town match came as a bit of a shock as it did not include on-loan midfielder Stu Holden in the matchday 18.

There were initial fears of injury from the Bolton fan base but that was not the case as Stu was left out by Wednesday manager Dave Jones. Speaking after the match, Jones cleared the situation up:

"Bolton will pull Holden back so we couldn't risk him today considering the favour we've had from them"

In the post-match reaction on the Owls' official website, Jones added:

"Bolton are in a play-off spot, they have one or two injuries, and they want him back.

"He's got better and stronger as his loan has gone on and I would like to thank him for his services and wish him the very best for the future."

Bolton will welcome Stu back on Wednesday and fans should expect to see him in Bolton's final two matchday squads.
