With a friendly against Chester FC already in the books, Bolton Wanderers have just scheduled their second pre-season match. Bolton do not yet know what league they will be competing in next season but they're doing their best to make sure that the whole squad will be ready for it.
The match in question will be against Rhyl FC of the Cymru Alliance League which is the second-highest level of Welsh football. The club have confirmed the match on their Twitter feed:
FRIENDLY CONFIRMED: Rhyl FC vs BOLTON WANDERERS on FRIDAY 5th JULY, BELLE VUE STADIUM #summeroffootballinrhyl!
— Rhyl Football Club (@rhylfc) April 25, 2013
The friendly is very early in the schedule relative to the "preparations" (or lack thereof) that the club took during Owen Coyle's last summer in charge. The match will most likely be a reserve and U21 affair, much like last season's matches against Bamber Bridge, Radcliffe Burough, Chorley, and others.
Last season, the Trotters started playing friendlies on 18 July. It seems as though Dougie wants to get the boys fit early and keep them fit for the whole of the season.
