Bolton Wanderers won their sixth consecutive home match yesterday, keeping their fourth home clean sheet in a row. The win came against a combative Huddersfield Town side who had a few chances to equalize and/or win the match for themselves. For those of you not at the Reebok stadium or those that have not managed to see the ten seconds worth of highlights floating around, we have a few of the match's talking points in gifs for you.
Bolton's best chance of the first half came through David Ngog after a lovely bit of work from Chris Eagles. The winger did very well to beat his defender and skip to the byline before cutting back to David Ngog who was in plenty of space, ten yards from goal. Somehow, Ngog managed to get entirely underneath the ball and blaze it well over the bar.
Early in the second half, Wanderers would get another, even better look at goal. Chris Eagles again provided the ball into the box with Chung-Yong Lee rising highest to nod it down. David Ngog got ahold of the chance with a lovely turn but Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies made a great first save before somehow getting back to claw the ball off the line before it went in.
The breakthrough would finally come on the hour mark as Marvin Sordell capitalized on a mistake from Terriers defender Peter Clarke. Sordell forced the defender wide before muscling him off the ball and cutting back to Chris Eagles in the area. The winger finished with aplomb to the far post for what would be his ninth goal of the season and the match winner.
