Bolton's U21s were in action earlier against Manchester City's reserves at the County Ground in Leyland. The (we don't have an affectionate name for them... yet) Wanderers reserves fielded a side full of promising talent including Rob Lainton, Andy Kellett, Oscar Threlkeld, Cian Bolger, Josh Vela, Chris Lester, Jan Gregus, Zach Clough, and Sanmi Odelusi. Manchester City's starting lineup featured Maicon, Micah Richards, and John Guidetti, among others.
Lion of Vienna Suite contributor Michael Murray was at the County Ground and provided live, detailed updates as the match raged on. This is how it went down:

Across the face. Left back Andy Kellett ghosts in at the far post but blazes a side foot effort over the bar #bwfc

GOAL sensational from Zach Clough who controls the ball from a clearance, shows good skill to hold off Boyata and arrow a 20 yard #bwfc

Goal and City are level as Pozo La Rosa smashes home from 10 yards after a low ball from possibly Maicon. 1-1 #bwfc

The whites restart and with a peep peep peeeeeep the ref blows for HT and the lads head back to the sheds for tea and biscuits #bwfc
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
A good competitive half, the sides deservedly go in level. I'm sure Dougie will be impressed with some of what he's seen #bwfc
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
SAVE Lainton but Guidetti should've scored, great flowing counter from City who found Pozo La Rosa on the left to put in a low cross #bwfc
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
The striker fails to make a decent contact and it hits a sprawling Lainton before being bundled behind for a corner. #bwfc

#bwfc sub Adam Blakeman comes on for Jan Gregus
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
#bwfc midfield seems to have sured up since the introduction of Blakeman, City not overrunning the whites quite as easily
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
HALF CHANCE Odelusi picks the ball up in his own half, feeds it out to Lester on the right who cuts inside but drags a left footed #bwfc

Effort wide from about 20 yards #bwfc
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
CROSSBAR Maicon curls an effort from 25 yards after being found by Rusnak but it hits the bar and bounces out before being hooked away #bwfc
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
CHANCE Blakeman lofts a ball through which Sampson holds, drives into the box and lays back to Lester who again drags wide #bwfc
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
SAVES by Lainton first from Fofana after he drives into the box and then from Pozo La Rosa who was unmarked 10 yards out #bwfc
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
End to end in the final minutes #bwfc
— Michael Murray (@mervynthepanda) April 8, 2013
Peep peep peeeeep and it's all over, the whites take a hard earned point although City will be disappointed not to take all 3 #bwfc
