Dougie Freedman has captured his first senior signing of the summer, bringing in former Norwich City defender Marc Tierney. The 27-year-old left back will be Marcos Alonso's replacement if and when the Spanish defender leaves following the end of his contract. A report from 20 May said that the deal had been agreed then with Bolton Wanderers confirming the news today.
Tierney played for two-and-a-half seasons at Norwich City, making 39 appearances for the Canaries. Following a groin injury and surgery, he fell out of favor at Carrow Road during the 2012/13 season and made only five appearances against all competitions. He was replaced in the lineup by Javier Garido.
Tierney brings plenty of lower league and Premier League experience to the Trotters. Prior to his time at Norwich City, Tierney played for Oldham Athletic, Carlisle United, Shrewsbury Town, and Colchester United.
Bolton Wanderers can announce they have agreed a deal in principle with Marc Tierney to join the club. #BWFC
